Doll Rants #1: Lucky isn't very lucky...

So, last year, DreamWorks released a new Netflix series, Spirit Riding Free. It's a cute idea, but why on Earth would Spirit, who was the world's most independent horse, let a rich little city girl like Lucky ride him?! Maybe it's a different Spirit.

Just in case you didn't know, Spirit: Riding Free is a Netflix Original Series, made in collaboration with DreamWorks.
It follows a 12-year-old girl named Fortuna Prescott, who goes by Lucky. Now, I'd only seen bits and pieces of the show, and so originally I thought her name was actually Lucky, and her parents just wanted a unique name? But, before season four came out in February, my sister was re-watching the series, and I decided to watch the first episode with her. I then realized that Lucky's name is actually Fortuna, but she goes by Lucky.

Anyway, the series can be funny at times, such as Episode 1, Season 4. Lucky was helping this guy who threw out his back with his work in an ice cream shop, and she was also giving people advice.

At the end of the day, she was telling Pru and Abigail about it and Abigail said something like "You give great advice, Lucky! Like the time my boots got wet, and you told me that it was faster to dry them in the oven. It worked great! Until I forgot about them, and I got grounded. Oh! How about the time you told me to stand up for myself! It was so empowering! Until I did it to my parents. And I got grounded again."  

I found that part funny.

Anyway, that's enough about the show! Let's look at the dolls and horses!

BTW, Breyer is a company that makes extremely realistic horse models. The dolls they make usually look kinda cartoony.
So Lucky was probably out of their comfort zone. A.K.A. very cartoony.

Breyer has two different models of Lucky and Spirit.

One is the main version, which has Lucky dressed in her show outfit. The other one is basically the same thing, but Lucky has a red blouse instead of a white one (at least I think it's a blouse...) and it comes with a necklace for you.

The main version retails for $34.99, (U.S. Currency) and the gift set, I believe is $59.99 (U.S.) It's been a while since I've looked at the website, so I can't be certain.
BTW, if you guys would like me to convert to CAD (Canadian Dollars) or something, I'll do my best.

Just Play also makes Spirit Riding Free dolls and horses, and the sets I'm interested in are the flocked horses. The dolls are the same as the regular versions, but the hair is thinner and the faces can look less severe, such as how Lucky's eyebrows are thinner and higher placed with less of an arch, making her not seem evil.

Or how Pru's lips are a natural reddish coral color, instead of the neon pink of the other set and large doll. These are probably batch differences (minus Pru's lips) and so you should definitely buy in person, so you can get the perfect doll and horse.

I'm personally interested in the deluxe (Barbie-sized) Lucky and Abigail, the flocked Boomerang and Abigail set, and the Breyer sets.

The reason I don't like most of the Pru dolls is because almost all of them have freaky orange eyes and neon pink lips.

The flocked sets are Toys 'R' Us exclusives, and retail for $17.99.
The deluxe dolls are available where most dolls are sold, and retail for (I think) $11.99.

There's a blister pack that has a three inch Lucky doll. Her clothes are molded and painted on. It also comes with a mini Spirit, who is more in scale with Lucky than the larger set. It retails for $14.99.

Overall, I personally think that Abigail and Boomerang are the best and that Lucky isn't very lucky...

I'm Back!! *ish

I'm Back!! Yes! I've been gone for a week! A WEEK!! An ENTIRE week! It's very upsetting. But I'm back, and although there may be a slight delay in posts, such as a new post every week or half-week, I'm still going to post, although they may or may not be posted at a library or Walmart.

So, on my Molly's possible BeForever return?! And Retired doll? Let's fix that! Sort of... Posts, some of you guys were so amazing and took the time to post comments back in November, and unfortunately, they weren't posted until last week. The reason for that is because this was technically a blog that my mom made for me and I just posted on it. But now I'm an Admin! So I will personally read, post, and answer any future comments from you guys.
I hope you all are enjoying my blog and will continue to do so.

BTW, I need ideas for reviews... Hmm.

I'm glad that I can make more posts and that I can share my love of dolls with others who like dolls.

I'm so sorry guys!! My family is moving on Thursday, and we don't have WiFi where we're moving, and so Living the Doll Life - Boy Style will be on hold.

Felicity and #19 eye color differences.

Dear Joseph,

Thanks for your questions. There is a slight difference in the new Felicity's eyes. Her eyes are more of a brilliant green and they are slightly darker than the older Felicity's eyes.

The eyes of our Truly Me #19 are a different shade of green than our past and current Felicity®. Truly Me #19's eyes are a lighter green than our current Felicity. Truly Me #19's eyes are a darker green than our archived, older Felicity.

This is what I got in an e-mail from American Girl. There was more, but that's for another post. And yes, my name is Joseph Cole, but I go by JCole. In the first photo, Felicity has bright green eyes, but in the second photo, she has pinwheel green eyes. in the third, her eyes look the same as Historical's. in the new stock photo for #19, her eyes look more like an emerald green than laser green. #19 has eyes that are lighter than BeForever Felicity's, but are darker than the old, retired version. I personally think that the new Felicity's eyes are too dark, and the old Felicity's are too bright, so #19's eyes are perfect! (not to mention she's kinda my doll look-a-like along with #55!) I think this was actually pretty informational.

BeForever Molly LEAKS!!!

 You're hearing it here folks, (and on the AG Wiki page) American Girl released a page about Molly on the Play @ American Girl site, and originally, it had this photo, A.K.A. BEFOREVER MOLLY!!! But it was quickly replaced with a photo of Molly in her classic Meet. AAAAAHH!!!! I was SO upset when Molly wasn't released on the 19th, and so this photo brings new hope for me! Retired Doll? Let's fix that! Sort of...

Have you ever wanted a certain doll, but they were retired? eBay usually has them, but their prices can be astronomical! American Girl usually releases a similar doll under the Truly Me line, but they aren't the same. I really want Lindsey, Girl of the Year 2001-2002, but since she didn't sell very well, she can be hard to find and usually has grey/green/pale tint to her skin. Last year, AG released the One of a Kind doll thing, and I made a doll similar to Lindsey and attempted to recreate her meet. I am having issues getting the picture up, so I'll do it later. If you want Saige, #23 is great, and #46 and Gabriela are the same doll. Luciana and #66 are very similar to each other, but Luciana has side bangs and a purple streak sewn into her wig cap. Luci and Gabby are still sold today, but I'm not sure how long they'll be around because Luciana is selling very well, being the Space Camp - spacey girl. Gabriela was rumored to be the "last GotY" but Luciana's here, and she's a GotY. Several dolls have a Truly Me equivalent, but certain TM's are no longer available through AG. Permanent v.s. Removable earrings.

Joséfina and Addy had permanent earrings, and so did the original version of #27, but other dolls can have removable earrings. Addy and Joséfina have these gold hoop earrings that are permanently in there. #27 originally had these star charm earrings, which were not removable. In 2008, the doll could have removable earrings. Addy and Joséfina's earrings have always been permanent, although pre-BeForever earrings could swing back and forth, but with BeForever, the earrings were stuck with another piercing behind the ear, so the earring always sticks out at an odd earring, although the purchaser could use floral cutters and clip the earring close to the piercing behind the ear and the earring would be able to swing. My neighbors have Joséfina, but theirs is historical, so her earrings can swing. I honestly don't care about the earring angle, so I wouldn't care if I had a BeForever or Historical Joséfina, I just want her. An interesting fact about McKenna and Joséfina is that they don't have a part in their wigs, so they can be parted a couple of different ways. I prefer the permanent earrings to the removable ones, because I got Skylar with removable earrings, and I lost them within a few days! So now she just has pierced ears, but no earrings. I will say, I would like to have a #27 prior to 2008, as I really like her permanent earrings. I really like the stars on her earrings.
